Why Do My Clear Stickers Not Have a Split Backing?

When it comes to fully transparent stickers, clarity is key. Our Clear Stickers are printed on a high-quality polypropylene film with a glossy or matte laminate that’s weatherproof and water-resistant. However, applying split backing to this material isn’t an option because any visible cut lines or splits in the liner would show through the clear sticker.

To keep your design looking polished and professional, we avoid split backing altogether and instead offer peel assistance solutions. In this article, we’ll explain the peel assistance options, and how you can request a tab or carrier sheet with your next order.

Make Clear Stickers Easier to Peel with Custom Peel Assistance

Clear Stickers are a stylish, professional way to showcase your brand—but peeling them off the liner can sometimes be tricky. Because of the transparent material, our Clear Stickers don’t use standard split back liners like other stickers. Instead, our clear stickers traditionally come with a single backing piece cut to the shape of the sticker. If assistance is needed for peeling, we offer options like tabs and carrier sheets that make the application process smoother and less frustrating.

What Are Peel Tabs?

Peel tabs are added design features that make stickers easier to peel from their liner. For Clear Stickers, we offer two types of solutions:

  • Tabs: A small, unprinted extension beyond your sticker’s cut line. This little handle gives you a simple way to lift the sticker from the liner—no fingernail gymnastics required.
  • Carrier Sheets: A larger sheet that holds your sticker in the center, giving you extra space around the edge to grab and peel easily.

Peel assistance is especially helpful for smaller sticker sizes, intricate die-cut designs, or when you’re applying a large number of stickers quickly—like during packaging runs or promo events.

How to Request a Tab or Carrier Sheet

Adding peel assistance is easy! When uploading your artwork on the Clear Stickers product page, scroll to the “Special Instructions” box and add a note like:

  • “Please add a peel tab for easy application.”
  • “Include a carrier sheet for better peel access.”
  • “Tab needed—this is a small sticker that’s hard to peel.”

Our Graphic Production Artists will take care of the rest. If you have a preferred placement for the tab, or if you're unsure which peel assistance option works best for your sticker shape or size, feel free to ask—we’re happy to help.

Please note if no request is made for a peel tab or carrier sheet, your Clear Stickers will arrive cut exactly to shape without any peel assistance added.

When to Use a Tab vs. a Carrier Sheet

Not sure which peel assistance setup is best for your project? Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Choose a tab if your sticker is under 2” or has a detailed or odd shape—this makes it easier to peel from one clear spot.
  • Choose a carrier sheet if your sticker is centered and you want a consistent, easy-to-handle backing.

Both options offer a frustration-free peel and elevate the user experience—especially for customers or teams using your stickers on the go.

Get the Most from Your Clear Stickers

Peel assistance like tabs and carrier sheets help make applying Clear Stickers a breeze—without compromising the clean, polished look of your transparent design. Since split backing isn’t available for clear materials, these alternatives give you the same level of convenience without sacrificing quality.
