Artwork templates are a great tool to ensure you are building your files to our art requirements. We recommend Adobe Illustrator as the design tool to utilize your template best. Check out our quick tips below to help prepare your artwork for printing, and find our pre-built standard templates here!
Steps for Using a Template in Adobe Illustrator
Open the template in Adobe Illustrator.
Place your design onto the ARTWORK layer and position it behind the template lines. Keep all important content like text, barcodes, characters, and important background elements inside the green Safety Line.
Outline or rasterize your fonts. Hit Select > Select All (Cmd + A) and then Type > Create Outlines (Cmd + Shift + O). Here's a more in-depth look at how to outline your fonts! |
|
Embed all images: Click on each image with the Direct Selection Tool (White Arrow (A)) and then hit “Embed” at the top of your window.
Save as PDF and submit your file for proofing! |
What are the Lines on the Template?
You will see the bleed line, cut line, and safety line on the template.
|
|
The pink line is the cutline. This is where we will cut your sticker with our lasers. It will not be shown on your final product. |
|
The green dotted line is the safety or "inset margin" line. Keep all text, logos, and important items inside this line. Extending them past this line puts them at risk of getting cut off. |
|
The blue line is the bleed line. If you'd like your sticker to NOT have a white border, ensure you extend your color/design past the pink line to the blue line. In the design on the right, the sticker on the left does not have bleed, while the sticker on the right DOES have bleed. |
Helpful Tips
- Keep your text above 5pt font for best legibility.
- Once your design has been built to the template, print the file out at 100% scale for an accurate size representation of your product.
- Use CMYK colors in vector artwork.
- Ensure all images are at least 300 DPI for best quality.
- Do not move or adjust the template lines.
