Canva makes it easy to design custom stickers and labels. This guide shows you how to set up your file with the correct size, bleed, safety margins, and export settings so it's ready for print. 

Setting Up Your Design

1. Go to “Create A Design” 
2. Select “Custom Size” (this allows you to enter the exact size you need) 
3. Set the Units to Inches (IN) 
4. Once you have entered your size, click "Create New Design."

For the best print results, add 1/8" bleed on all sides and keep important artwork inside the safety margin. Bleed ensures backgrounds print cleanly to the edge, while safety margins help prevent text and logos from being trimmed during production.

1. Go to File > Settings and enable Show Rulers and Guides.
2. Select Add Guide. 
3. Choose Custom
   1. Set Both Columns and Rows to 1
   2. Set Gap to 0
   3. Set Margins to 0.13" for standard insets and 0.06" for narrow insets
4. Click Add Guides.

Note: Narrow safety margins (0.06") are recommended only for stickers larger than 1" and labels larger than 0.75". Canva rounds 0.125" to 0.13" and 0.0625" to 0.06". 

Design Tips 

Extend any background colors, photos, or patterns into the bleed area. Keep text, logos, barcodes, and other important design elements inside the safety margins to help prevent trimming during production. 

Understand Color 

Canva creates artwork in RGB, while StickerGiant prints in CMYK. We automatically convert RGB files for printing, but some colors may shift slightly during conversion. If precise color matching is critical, professional design software like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop provides full CMYK support. 

Downloading Your File from Canva

When your design is complete:

1. Go to File > Download. 
2. Select Print PDF as the file type. 
3. Check Crop marks and bleed. 
4. Leave Flatten PDF unchecked. 

Canva Pro Tip: If available, export as an SVG or choose the CMYK color profile for the most accurate print results.
