Cut lines define exactly where our lasers will cut your artwork, ensuring your desired precise shape. 

Quick Overview:

1. Create a new layer just for cut lines.
2. Use 100% Magenta stroke set to 0.5pt for cut lines.
3. Round sharp corners to at least 0.04" (1/25").
4. Submit a layered file (PDF, AI, or PSD) with the cut line layer separate.
5. Add any preferences in the Special Instructions box.

How to Add Cut Lines to Your Artwork

Create a Separate Layer for Cut Lines

Start by creating a new layer specifically for your cut lines. This keeps your cut line separate from the rest of your design and makes it easy for our team to spot.

• In your design program (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc), create a new layer and name it "Cut Line."
• Place it above your artwork layer.

Keep this layer distinct to make sure the cut lines don't accidentally print along with your artwork.

Use 100% Magenta for Cut Lines

To clearly indicate the cut path, cut lines should be set to 100% magenta—this is our standard for identifying cut lines in your design. 

• Set your color to Magenta at 100%.
• Set the stroke to 0.5 pt—this will make the cut lines visible without overpowering the design.

Submit a Layered File

Once you’ve set up the cut lines, save and submit your artwork as a layered file (PDF, AI, or PSD) so we can see the cut lines without printing them.

• If ordering a standard shape, be sure to hide your cut lines.

• Keeping layers organized helps us process your order quickly.

   

Use the Special Instructions Box 

The Special Instructions box on the Product Page is the perfect place to let us know about any additional details related to your cutlines. Some helpful notes to include might be: 

• Cut line Applied: if you’re submitting your own cut line (e.g., “Please keep as close to the supplied cut line as possible”).
• Corner Requests: if you want specific rounding (e.g., “Round all corners to a 1/8” radius”).
• Smoothing Requests: if your dieline has any sharp corners you’d like softened.

Providing these notes ensures we know exactly how you’d like your design proofed!

Do I Have to Include Cut Lines in My Artwork?

No, it is not required for you to add cut lines. The only time you need to add cut lines is if you have very specific requirements and want to have full control over the cut line details. Otherwise, our team will create cut lines that follow the shape of your artwork to ensure your stickers look exactly as you envision. 

Here’s when adding cut lines is highly recommended:

• Custom Shapes: If you want a shape that isn’t part of your artwork or doesn’t follow your artwork’s outline—like a cat-shaped sticker for your logo—providing a cut line ensures your sticker matches your vision.
• Tapered or Curved Labels: If your label needs to curve or wrap around a container in a specific way, it’s best to include the exact label shape, size, and cut line in your file.
• Specific Corner Requests: If you have a specific radius in mind, add your cut lines to your artwork or mention it in the Special Instructions box (e.g., “Please use a 1/8” radius”).
