If you're tax-exempt—whether due to your nonprofit status, educational institution, or resale business—you can take advantage of tax-free purchases when ordering from StickerGiant. There are a few steps you'll need to follow to ensure that tax exemption applies correctly to your order. We'll walk you through the process of submitting your tax-exempt certification and explain the requirements for taxes to be removed from your cart.

Have Your Tax Exempt Certificate Ready

Before you start the process, make sure you have your tax exemption certificate in hand. This is a crucial document that confirms your tax-exempt status, and you’ll need to submit it online to apply for tax-free status on your StickerGiant orders. Be sure to check that the certificate is valid in the state you’re purchasing from, as tax exemptions are state-specific.

There are two ways to submit your tax-exempt form on the StickerGiant website:

Option 1: Submit via Your Account

Log in to Your Account: If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll need to create one before submitting any documents.

Navigate to the Tax Certificate Page: Once logged in, go to the tax certificate page on our website.

Upload Your Certificate: From this page, follow the prompts to add your exemption through the form.

1. Select the state or territory you are shipping to.

2. Some states will pull in a prefilled form. These fields are not editable, and may contain incorrect information – But don’t worry! We’ll be able to change those once your form has been submitted. Continue through “Save and Continue”.

3. Select the reason for your document.

4. Fill out the form with all relevant information. There is also an option to “import your copy of this document” however this option will always require a review by our finance team, and will not be approved automatically. Filling out the form will give you the best chance of having taxes removed from your order immediately.

5. Sign your form, and submit for review.

Be sure to upload a certificate for each state where you plan to make tax-exempt purchases. Remember, the shipping address you use during checkout must match the state for which you have the tax exemption.

Option 2: Submit During Checkout

1. Add Items to Your Cart: After selecting your stickers or labels, head to the checkout page.

2. Confirm Shipping Address and Shipping Method: After reviewing your order, make sure your shipping address is correct.

3. Click on the "Upload your certificate" Button: Under your order total, you will see a line of "Tax Exempt? Upload your certificate”. Click on it to submit your tax-exempt certificate.

4. Complete the Form or Upload Documentation: You’ll have the option to manually fill out a form or upload your tax-exempt certificate directly during the checkout process.

Wait for Approval

Once your tax-exempt certificate has been submitted, our finance team will review it to ensure it meets all applicable tax laws. During this review period, your uploaded document will show a "declined" status. Don’t worry—this does not mean your exemption was denied. It simply means the finance team is still processing it.

Once your certificate has been approved, your tax status will be updated to "approved". If you’ve paid taxes on previous orders, our team will issue a refund for those taxes

Important Things to Keep in Mind

  • State-Specific Requirements: Tax exemption rules vary by state, so be sure to check with your local state government website to make sure your certificate is valid in the state you're ordering from.
  • Shipping Address Must Match: The state listed on your tax-exempt certificate must match the shipping address for the exemption to apply in your cart. For example, if your certificate is for Colorado, the shipping address on your order must be in Colorado.
  • Tax Exemption Doesn't Apply Automatically for All States: You must submit a tax exemption certificate for each state you want to apply tax exemption to.
  • Refunds for Taxes Paid: If you accidentally pay taxes on an order after your exemption is approved, our finance team will gladly issue a refund for any taxes paid.
  • Potential Delays: There may be a slight delay between uploading your certificate and the taxes being removed from your order. Our team reviews many certificates, and while we strive to process them as quickly as possible, there may be a small window of time before everything is finalized. If you encounter any issues, or if there’s additional information needed, our team will reach out via email.
